Port Nikau Celebrates Seaweek 2018
Join in the FREE family fun at Port Nikau as we celebrate SeaWeek with a clean-up of our amazing Whangarei Harbour and beaches, as well as plenty of great entertainment, including a chance to explore Royal Navy and Coastguard vessels, live theatre, model aircraft demonstrations, yummy food and more!

A great family fun day out!
  • Land and sea-based ocean clean up involving NZ Royal Navy, Sea Cleaners, Blackdog Cat, sailors, schools and local community groups. Keep an eye on the growing pile of collected rubbish, can we reach our target of cleaning up 15 cubic metres?
  • The Royal Navy boat HMNZS HAWEA will be docked for people to explore – climb aboard and meet the crew
  • Explore the inflatable kelp seaweed tunnel
  • Food and drinks from local food trucks available all day
  • Watch Model Aviation Northland’s flying demonstration 12.00pm
  • Meet the Whangarei Coastguard crew and check out their boat
  • Caring for our Oceans display from EcoSolutions
  • Printapalooza – Northland’s largest live action print event where you can watch local artists make mural sized prints with a two-tonne road roller.
  • The Rock Pool starring Styrene (Adam Burrell) and the Kai Moana is a unique whacky musical entertainment show with a message from the deep blue sea 11.15am- 12.00pm
  • Music by Whangarei band Mermaid Bait, five rather handsome gentlemen playing epic originals.
